Change for Concord (C4C) is an organizing hub for a diverse group of young adults aged 18 to 30 who work together to improve the quality of life for young people in Concord. We are a passionate group of young individuals dedicated to promoting leadership, education, advocacy, and economic development. Our primary goal is to address and eradicate discrimination faced by historically excluded groups, ensuring that such incidents do not occur again. By doing so, we aim to foster a more diverse and welcoming environment in our city.

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) serves as the host organization for Change for Concord.  AFSC created the Grassroots Organizer Internship in 2016 with a grant from the You Have Our Trust fund, which continues to fund the internship every year. AFSC's Grassroots Organizer Intern created Change for Concord in 2016, and each of our subsequent interns have served as the lead organizer. Change for Concord is also funded by the Arnie Alpert Action Fund and individual donors.

Our Story

Change for Concord organization was born out of a distressing incident where a hate group targeted an immigrant home with hateful words. This incident sparked a strong reaction from the community, who came together to take action against such acts of discrimination.

Conversations, events, and hearings were organized within the city of Concord, involving leaders, police, youth, and community members. These discussions aimed to address the incident, understand its root causes, and find ways to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

In response to the need for sustained efforts, Change for Concord was established. This youth organization recognized the importance of creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all residents of Concord. They understood that change could only be achieved through organized and collective action.

Since its inception, Change for Concord has been actively organizing and mobilizing the community. Their focus is on promoting a city that values diversity, provides essential services to all residents, and ensures the safety of every individual.

Through various initiatives, campaigns, and collaborations, Change for Concord works towards creating a community where everyone feels respected, supported, and included. They strive to eliminate discrimination, foster understanding, and build bridges between different cultures and backgrounds.

Change for Concord believes that by organizing and advocating for change, they can make a lasting impact on the city. Their efforts are aimed at transforming Concord into a place where all people, regardless of their background, can thrive and feel a sense of belonging.

Join Change for Concord in their mission to create a city that is truly welcoming, service-oriented, and safe for all its residents. Together, we can build a community that celebrates diversity and stands against discrimination.
